What decides the order
Within a category, tools are ordered by how well they serve someone arriving for that category's purpose. In practice that resolves to four things, weighted roughly in this order:
- Whether the product does what its category promises, tested rather than assumed.
- Whether it is still actively maintained — updated models, working payments, a support channel that answers.
- How clearly it states its pricing, its limits and what the free tier actually includes.
- Whether it can be evaluated at all without handing over a card.
A tool that is technically strong but hides its pricing until checkout will sit below a weaker one that is upfront. Directories exist to reduce the cost of finding out, and a product that raises that cost is worth less to the reader regardless of quality.
What the fields mean
Each listing carries a small set of facts, and each has a strict definition:
- Output type — what the tool produces: chat, images, video, audio, or a game.
- Free tier — whether meaningful use is possible without paying. A trial that ends after two messages is not a free tier.
- From — the lowest recurring price actually charged, not the headline promotional rate.
- No signup — whether the product can be used without creating an account.
Any of these may show an em dash. That is the honest state of a field we have not verified, and we would rather print a dash than a plausible number. Several of these fields are still largely unresearched, and the dashes across the directory reflect that rather than hiding it.
Where the money is
Some outbound links earn a commission. Commission rates differ between operators, which means there is a standing incentive to rank the profitable ones higher. We do not, and the structure of the site is set up so that you can check.
Ranking is decided before commercial terms are looked at, and the order does not change when terms change. If a tool drops its programme entirely, it keeps its position.
The full disclosure sits on its own page.
What we do not do
- No paid placement, no sponsored listings, no rate card.
- No scores out of ten. A single number compresses away the only thing that matters, which is what the product is like to use.
- No fake urgency, no invented discount codes, no countdown timers.
- No listings for tools that generate sexual imagery of real people.
Challenging a ranking
If you operate a listed tool and think its position is wrong, email admin@interactiveporn.net with the specifics. A factual error gets corrected. A disagreement about editorial judgement gets a reply, and usually stays a disagreement — that is what independence costs.
